He was a refugee after germany invades France. he fled France on a small cargo and arrived in Mexico in the end of 1941. He was a communist, but not a stalinist, not a trostkyst too. The name of the book where he speaks of mexico is "the tropic and the North". I think that Staline killed mostly thousands of communists before killing millions of people. You are always weaker than you can imagine and war is the most dangerous experience for a dictatorship. We know it in France, Napoleon III (who made a useless war in your country) falled after a short and disastrous war in 1870. What you think of your ruling class recalls me some marxist formula, always true today.
