Memín Pinguín

Posted by Luis A. De Jesus R. (Mexico City, Mexico) on 7 July 2008 in Lifestyle & Culture.

A controversial cartoon personality that caused a ruckus among afro Americans in the US after Mexico chose to commemorate him on postal stamps (see www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8410111/). I was surprised to find this life-sized figure hidden/abandoned in some corner at the Cartoon Museum in downtown Mexico City. He is exhibited proudly at another room of the museum. This scene got my attention even more and I was allowed to move some of the rubbish and make a few photographs.

I am not a fan of sourcing from Wikipedia, but for a bit more on this character I suggest some research starting here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mem%C3%ADn_Pingu%C3%ADn.
