Waiting...

I spent a while waiting for a protest last Saturday that would gather thousands of people from across the city to cry out against the recent spite it crime. It's not the first time this has happened. Crime in Mexico City --and across the country-- has gone out of control with reminders of just how high and deep the masterminds and perpetrators operate in the political and justice system.

Well, I got tired of waiting and headed home when I heard that several subway stations key to allowing me to return home would be closed late into the evening until the pending protests subsided.

Funny thing is how people see you with a camera and begin to gather around you in curiosity --it made me feel safe.

@dj.tigersprout: Glad you liked it. The crime has gotten to the point where it has affected my street photography plenty. I don't have the confidence to take my camera into certain areas for fear of drawing attention from the people. Really nasty catch 22 as I want to really photograph in a given area, but find myself restricted by fear. Fear truly is the mind killer. Thanks for dropping by.

@Hikari: Saludos! Gracias por tomar tiempo de tu agenda repleta para visitar mi blog. ¿Como vez? aunque soy de decendencia latina mi idioma nativa es el ingles. Me cuesta un poco de trabajo el español ya que llevo poco en cuestion de años utilizando como hoy en día.

Gracias por el comentario. Estos días me ha dado un poco de "stage fright" con mi trabajo. No se si postear algunas fotos o no por cuestion de la calidad de la toma. De repente acabo castigando mas mi trabajo. Creo que necesito un pequño "break." Gracias de nuevo.

I like this foreboding scene. Speaking of crime in the DF, how do you feel walking around with an SLR camera? In future visits I wonder if I should take my current camera or something smaller and more easily replaced.

Also, I know how you feel about second-guessing your own work (as you responded to Hikari above). I think the best approach is not to worry inordinately. We can't always be brilliant (although you usually are). Posting daily, though, it's not always possible to hold oneself to the highest standard. What I try to do is do the best I can with what I have.

Even before reading your caption, the tension in this scene was very evident to me. Perhaps it's the way the traffic and the perspective lines move one way, and the guy on the right is looking expectantly the other way. Dunno. But I like.
